Africa accounts for the lion’s share of live mobile money services , with 52 percent of global deployments, according to the 2013 industry report published by the GSMA Mobile Money for the Unbanked Program. At the end of 2013, there were 219 mobile money services active in 84 countries, compared to 179 services in 75 countries at the end of 2012. In 2013, mobile money was rolled out in nine countries, including in Egypt, Ethiopia and Togo.
